GGSIPU Courses on Environment Conservation

In keeping with our motto to help students sail through this gruelling admission process, we are highlighting a series of courses which are well equipped to help students to have a strong hold in their professional lives ahead, as well as work for making our society a better place to live in. In our last post we discussed about various rehabilitation courses offered by GGSIPU. This time we are up with a post-graduate programme offerred by IP University. In the near future these course will be in demand because environment conservation is a major issues these days. If you love nature then these courses are just for you.

1. M.Sc. Biodiversity and Conservation which is now also offered by IP University. This course is available in University School of Basic & Applied Sciences.

2. M.Sc. Environment Management. This course is available in University School of Environment Management

As responsible citizens we all know what all challenges Earth is facing on ecological front. As pressures on the natural environment intensify, there is a growing need for skilled professionals in the areas of biodiversity conservation and environmental management.

M.Sc. in Biodiversity and Conservation provides a cutting edge practical approach to the ecological principles and methodologies that are fundamental to biodiversity management and the conservation of species and habitats. The course is designed to equip students from biological and/or environmental backgrounds with the intellectual and practical skills required in biodiversity management and conservation. The programme allows students to build expertise in and awareness of current issues, and to interface with external speakers from appropriate institutions.

The objective of this course is to make the professional aware of the social, political and economic issues relevant to achieving the above goal. The course would produce biologists who can communicate and address the problems related to conservation projects.

Eligibility

B.Sc. degree or equivalent (Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Anthropology or any field of Life Sciences) with minimum 60% marks.

Admission to this programme is on the basis of CET and Date of CET is 3rd june'09

M. Sc. Environment Management: The objective of two years intensive programme is to provide an integrated multidisciplinary study of a wide range of Environment related issues and their management. The programme conprises of comprehensive lectures on course and topics of current interest and importance, field and laboratory experiments and case studies of special interest related to Environmental Management programmes.

The mission of the programme is to build a pool of trained and dedicated professionals who can contribute to the development of policies, measures and programmes for environmental management.

Objectives of this course

• To provide institutionalised quality education and training in environmental studies.
• To pursue and facilitate research and development activities.
• To establish working linkages with industry and undertake collaborative projects which offer long-term interaction opportunities with academia and industry.
• To conduct short-term courses related to various environmental issues.
• To foster environmental awareness and promote the principles and practices of sustainable development.

Eligibility

B.Sc. Degre or its equivalent with atleast 50%marks OR B.Sc.(engg) OR B.Tech or B.E. in civil/chemical/agricultural with atleast 50% marks

Admission is on the basis of CET. Date of CET is 7th June'09
